Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel
has appointed the vice president of an assisted living franchise to serve as
the county’s new assistant county executive.
Hackel’s choice, Kathy Bartz, has served for the past eight years as VP of Southfield-based Presbyterian Villages of Michigan, which operates 26 faith-based assisted living centers across the Detroit area. Bartz, a Macomb County resident, was responsible for managing the sales, marketing, occupancy and revenue development of Presbyterian Villages.

Bartz replaces John Paul Rea,
who was recently confirmed as the new director of the county Planning and
Economic Development Department. In turn, Rea had succeeded Melissa Roy in April
after Roy took over as CEO of a local nonprofit organization.
“Kathy’s diverse background
in branding, marketing, finance and accounting make her an excellent addition
to our executive team,” Hackel said.
“As a lifelong resident, I am proud and honored to serve Macomb County,” said Bartz. “I look forward to elevating Macomb County and furthering its growth and development.”
