Agema endorses Trump’s anti-Muslim plan

Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema, the Michigan GOP’s resident bigot, has praised Donald Trump for his plan to keep Muslims out of the United States.
Agema, best known for his racist, homophobic and Islamophobic statements on Facebook, went online recently to declare that the Republican presidential frontrunner is on the right path by labeling Muslims as a national security risk. The west Michigan former state representative followed that up with a text message to MLive:

"For several years I have pushed to stop illegal immigration and have warned about radical Islam to no avail," Agema said via text. "Presently, however, it's front and center whereas before our leaders were afraid of political correctness and getting votes.
"Trump proves people are hearing what they've been thinking and many agree with him. I'm glad he's in the race to bring those issues forward. These are security issues."

While the Michigan GOP has denounced Agema for his past statements, the Kent County Republicans want to make it clear that they are playing no role in Trump’s campaign rally tonight at an arena in Grand Rapids.
"Trump's campaign is doing its own thing," said John Inhulsen, county party chairman. "The Kent GOP is not involved in their being here. We don't have any role.
"I cannot imagine there are (7,000) Republicans going to this event. There's a lot of interested people, people who want to say they were there, people interested in pop culture. That's the kind of guy he is. He's a celebrity."

There may be some truth to that, but Trump is the one celebrity who is as popular as Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina and Mike Huckabee combined, according to one poll.
