The new peace and harmony between County Executive Mark
Hackel and the county Board of Commissioners was on full display at Jim Jacobs’
29th annual economic forecast on Wednesday.
Macomb’s new 27-year-old board chair, Dave Flynn, was
sitting next to Deputy Executive Mark Deldin at the luncheon. Hackel graciously
introduced Flynn from the stage and poked a little fun.
He said Macomb Community College was having a little
difficulty determining the first time Jacobs delivered his forecast because it
seems like forever.
“They had to figure out if it was B.C. or A.D.,” he told
the crowd. “But they definitely determined that it was B.D. – Before Dave
(Flynn).”
Jacobs, the MCC president, also got a shot in, joking
about Hackel’s high-profile press conference last week where he used cats and
dogs as props to push for more pet adoptions. Jacobs’ used his powerpoint presentation to flash
on the screen Hackel’s newest promo – a “Make Macomb Your Home” logo that
features drawings of cats and dogs.
“There’s apparently no truth to the rumor that Hackel
will change his slogan to ‘No Animal Left Behind,’” Jacobs deadpanned.
