Snyder urges state employees to volunteer for Flint duty

In a letter to the 46,000 state employees on Friday, besieged Gov. Rick Snyder called on workers to volunteer for water distribution duty in Flint.
While Flint has benefited from a huge amount of donated bottled water, some say the distribution system is still lacking. Worse yet, critics say the drinking water filters that have been dispersed to homeowners are not always working as planned.

In his letter to employees, Snyder said, “What happened in Flint can never be allowed to happen again anywhere in our state.” The governor added, “I am asking you not to let the situation in Flint negatively impact your motivation to excel every day.”
The governor then praises those employees who have lent a hand in Flint – on their own time – and he urges more to do the same:
“… You have worked tirelessly to deliver cases of bottled water, water filters, replacement cartridges and water testing kits to the families in need.  I appreciate you donating your time to help our fellow Michiganders.  To date, more than 37,000 homes have been visited by one of our water resource teams.

“For employees who would like to further help the people of Flint, please visit www.HelpForFlint.com to learn how you can do so. For additional information and to sign up for daily updates, please visit www.mi.gov/FlintWater.  I am committed to ensuring that all residents have access to safe and clean water.”
