No doubt he's running for guv: Term-limited Schuette charges up to $1,000 for AG fundraiser

If there was any doubt at all that state Attorney General Bill Schuette is running for governor in 2018 -- even if that means cozying up to the tea party -- a big-time fundraiser the Republican hosted on Monday should put that all to rest.
Though Schuette is term-limited as AG, he hosted a barbeque -- a fundraising event -- at the Chateau Grand Traverse in Traverse City where tickets ranged from $50 to $1,000.
For the state's top law enforcement official to hold a fundraising event, even though he cannot seek re-election, seeking donations to "Bill Schuette for Attorney General" is more than a bit unseemly.
What's more, the Schuette invitation to the BBQ invitation included cutesy contributor designations such as $500, "Grill Master" and $1,000, "On Duty."

Beyond the prices and Schuette's manipulation of weak state campaign finance laws, the AG's recent associations with the MIGOP's tea party bad boys came to the forefront again at this event.
Among those photographed at the fundraiser was "Trucker Randy" Bishop, a northern Michigan talk-radio host who fled Macomb County once he got into legal trouble and, as recently as last year, declared war on the entire Michigan Republican Party apparatus.
