Armed civilian guards ordered to leave recruiting center after shot fired

A group of civilians guarding a military recruiting station in a Lancaster, Ohio, shopping center were ordered to leave after one of them accidentally fired his AR-15 assault-style weapon.
No one was injured in the incident but the shopping center owner ordered them off the premises, saying the company is concerned about the safety of customers and the public. Lancaster police arrived to remove the men from the area.

The men first arrived outside the multi-branch recruiting facility on Monday in response to the shots fired at a recruiting center in Chattanooga last week. No one was injured in that shooting but the gunman soon attacked a second military site, a nearby Navy and Marine Reserve training center, and killed four troops there -- a fifth died later from his wounds -- before being fatally shot by police.

In Lancaster, the 28-year-old who fired the semi-automatic rifle on Thursday, Christopher Reed, told The Columbus Dispatch that he is not a veteran, he is a gun enthusiast. Reed downplayed the incident.
"It is what it is. Nobody got hurt," he said in an interview with the Dispatch.
Reed faces a misdemeanor charge for discharging a weapon within the city limits. He was convicted of the same charge two years ago and paid a $50 fine, according to court records.
