Lund to lead Americans For Prosperity

Former state representative Pete Lund, who was mentioned prominently as a possible state Republican Party chairman and as a potential successor to Congresswoman Candice Miller, has taken the position of Michigan director of Americans For Prosperity.
The staunchly conservative AFP is indelibly linked to the billionaire Koch Brothers and in Michigan the group has strong ties with many tea party groups.

Lund, a Shelby Township Republican, has been active in the Macomb County GOP for more than 25 years, at one point working as a top aide to the late state senator Doug Carl. Prior to winning election to the state House in 2008, Lund served on the Macomb County Board of Commissioners.
In a statement welcoming his leadership of the 100,000-member AFP-Michigan, Lund said, "I look forward to joining with concerned citizens to get spending under control, lower taxes, and increase economic freedom.”

A former longtime adjunct professor of economics at Walsh College, Lund is perhaps best known in Lansing for his 2010 role as House GOP Campaign Committee chairman when he lead the caucus to a historic 20-seat gain.
He replaces Scott Hagerstrom and starts his new post on June 1.
