Davidson wins academic March Madness; MSU in Sweet 16

Based on academic success and graduation rates, little Davidson is the NCAA champion among the 68 teams in the March Madness basketball tournament.
A nonprofit group, New America, came up with the rankings, matching up schools based on where their team fits into the B-ball bracket. Time magazine published the results.

According to Time, basketball success is not new to Davidson, a 1,850-student liberal arts college in North Carolina: Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is a former Wildcat. Nor is academic achievement: Woodrow Wilson is another prominent alum.

Michigan State made it to the Elite Eight in this scholarly bracket, with an academic ranking of 29, a 76 percent male graduation rate and a 73 percent graduation rate among men's basketball players. They knocked off Georgia in the first round and Virginia in the second.
