VIDEO: McCain calls demonstrators 'low-life scum'

NBC News has captured a classic Sen. John McCain moment, doing his best Dirty Harry impression, in response to anti-war protesters that disrupted this morning's Senate Armed Services Committee hearing which he chaired.
"Get out of here, you low-life scum," the Arizona Republican told the demonstrators as they were escorted from the committee chambers.
The incident occurred as three former secretaries of state -- Henry Kissinger, George Shultz and Madeleine Albright -- were about to testify. Holding aloft homemade banners, the protesters main target was the Vietnam-era secretary of state.
"Arrest Kissinger for war crimes," they chanted.

Shultz, Ronald Reagan's secretary of state, who is 94 years old, is seen on the NBC video standing just a few feet away from the instigators and yelling at them. "Shut up and sit down," he appears to be saying.
The committee chairman's low-life scum remark initially drew applause from just one person in the audience at the sparsely attended hearing, although a few others joined in momentarily.

McCain is no shrinking violet, to be sure, but I wonder: Has the senator recently graduated from the Chris Christie School of Public Speaking?
