Granholm for (U.S.) Attorney General

In case you missed it, here’s a story that may produce a few coronaries among Michigan Republicans.
Jennifer Granholm, soon to be departing her TV gig, is being mentioned as a possible replacement for Eric Holder if Holder steps down as U.S. attorney general.

Conservative Republicans almost universally despise Holder, but I suspect many GOP loyalists in Michigan hold Granholm in even lower regard.

CNN and Politico are both reporting that Granholm’s name is in the mix as the president prepares to fill several cabinet spots.
Granholm, best known these days for her high-voltage speech/rant at the Democratic National Convention, served as Michigan attorney general for four years prior to her 2003-10 stint as governor.
In addition to the impending vacancies at the Pentagon, State Department and CIA, Environmental Protection Agency administrator has announced her plans to leave and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is expected to do the same. Politico reports that Energy Secretary Steven Chu and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar are also expected to quit. Holder has not made his plans clear.

Granholm has been mentioned in the past for the energy post in the Obama administration. Politico is reporting that Granholm, along with Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and North Dakota Sen. Kent Conrad, who ended his Senate career last week, are among "a growing list of people the administration is looking to find spots for." Granholm would almost certainly best at the attorney general post.
