Hackel, Ficano come to Patterson's aid

Oakland County Democrats may be harassing GOP County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, questioning whether he's still fit for office, but two big-time Democrats, Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel and Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano have come to Patterson's rescue.
With Patterson still recovering from several broken bones suffered in a car crash, Hackel and Ficano have stepped up to assist with the annual Brooksie Way half-marathon and 5K run. 
Hackel and Ficano are helping to promote the race, named in memory of Patterson's deceased son, Brooks "Brooksie" Patterson, which takes place Sunday on the Oakland University campus in Rochester Hills.
A release put out by Hackel's office said that the region's two Democratic county executives are lending a hand "in a show of support for the speedy recovery" of Patterson, the region's top Republican.
