Trombly trumps Hackel at twp. event

Mark Hackel was at the microphone, doing what he does best – promoting Macomb County – when he told his audience that the county is now producing 1,100 new jobs per month.
More than 1,000 jobs per month – pretty impressive -- the county executive said to a crowd gathered on Friday at the Lenox Township Hall. But, why Macomb? Ever the salesman, Hackel said: “If you really want to know why, go to makemacombyourhome.com.”
The crowd chuckled as the county executive managed to use a press conference about a new gas-to-energy plant at the Pine Tree Acres landfill to promote the new pro-Macomb website and slogan.

But Lenox Township Supervisor Ron Trombly trumped Hackel when he took his turn at the microphone. He cited Lenox’s “green” projects and its commitment to recycling. Then Trombly added that he wants to alter Hackel’s slogan.
The new PR pitch? “Make Macomb Your Home – But Live in Lenox.”

(In a previous news story, I referred to the supervisor as Ray Trombly. I apologize for the error.)
