Hackel a Papa? Officials say no big surprise at State of the County speech

One Hackel administration official said this week that the Macomb County executive would have a couple of surprises in tonight's State of the County address.
That led one Mark Hackel insider to speculate on Tuesday that the exec would announce that he is going to be a father. Sounds like a strange revelation to make at a policy speech, but Hackel chose a gathering of the Big Four regional leaders about a year ago to announce his engagement to his now-wife, Tracie Damschroder.
Meanwhile, a close Hackel ally is trying to snuff out the Tracie-is-pregnant speculation as the speech approaches, saying it is "100 percent" untrue.
I guess time will tell. The speech is slated for 6 p.m. at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts in Clinton Township. It will be livestreamed on macombgov.org and WDET-FM (101.9) will air the speech tape-delayed at 8 p.m.
