State of the Union speeches are traditionally held in January, State of the State addresses come in late January or early February, and then the following weeks bring a series of State of the County, State of the City and State of the Township speeches.
But Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel is making a major break from tradition by holding his State of the County address on Wednesday, Dec. 7. And this is definitely not your typical speech event.
Attendance is by invitation only, as the audience will gather in the Macomb Community College Performing Arts Center. First, the invited crowd will snack on hors d'oeuvres and refreshments starting at 5 p.m. Seating will begin at 5:30 p.m. And Hackel will appear on stage at 6 p.m.
According to the invitations, the topics to be covered by the executive include economic development news from the auto and defense industries.
Afterward, the executive is inviting all to attend an afterglow.
I withhold comment other than to say this is just so, so not Macomb County.
